Kaminari Taiko’s Apprentice performance group, the Thunderstudies, will open the Oshogatsu 2023 celebration on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Levy Park. This event, presented by the Japan-America Society of Houston (JASH) and Levy Park, is part of a series of Japan Junction cultural events held at the park.
Oshogatsu is a free, family-friendly celebration of Japanese culture around the New Year. The Thunderstudies will perform in the main pavilion from 11:00-11:20 AM. After the taiko performance, check out New Year’s games, crafts, mochi pounding, and other cultural performances until 2:00 PM.

Kaminari Taiko will perform at the Grand Opening of the new Lawn space at Memorial City Mall on Saturday, March 24, 2018. This free event will feature live performances, art, food, and activities for all ages. The showcase runs from 12:00 - 7:00 PM, and Kaminari Taiko will perform at 3:30. We'll see you there!

Kaminari Taiko is excited to return to the Brazos Valley Worldfest. This will be our second year performing on stage as part of the festival's cultural displays and demonstrations.

Due to the approach of Tropical Storm Cindy, the Rothko Chapel has cancelled tonight's Summer Solstice Celebration. We're sorry to miss the concert, but we hope everyone will stay safe tonight and tomorrow as the storm rolls through.
We are discussing the possibility of rescheduling the concert for a future date, and if that happens, we will post the event here.

No taiko player's costume is complete without a hachimaki! Bring your children to our tent and they can make their very own to wear while enjoying the festivities.
Parking
If you're planning to drive to the festival, please be aware that there is limited parking inside Hermann Park, and it generally fills up by early afternoon. If you are not arriving first thing in the morning, we strongly recommend parking along the MetroRail line and taking the train to the Hermann Park/Rice U station. Kaminari Taiko returns to the Red River Revel in 2016!
The festival, held annually on the riverfront in Shreveport, runs for eight days. Kaminari will perform two 30-minute shows on the festival's first day, Saturday, October 1st.
Show times are at 1:00 and 4:00 PM. Festival admission is $5 on Saturdays before 6:00 PM. We'll have more details as the festival gets closer

Kaminari Taiko's student performance group, the Thunderstudies, will perform at Weekley Community Center on Saturday, September 10th. The Thunderstudies will perform at 7:00 p.m, followed by a hands-on session where audience members will be invited to try playing the drums themselves.

Festival admission is $4 adult / $2 child for Louisiana residents and $5 / $2.50 for out-of-state visitors.
Kaminari Taiko will perform on the front steps of the museum in three thirty-minute performances at 10:00, 12:30, and 4:00.
